Since I have very dark skin, I am harder to treat and they have to use a longer wavelengths, so they use the Nd:YAG laser. Since there are longer wavelengths, there is also less pain I think. For my legs I felt no pain at all, it just felt like I was getting squirted with cold water. I'm assuming this is because there was water coming thru the laser to act as a cooling agent. Now for the bikini, that was a whole 'nother story. It felt like I was getting poked with a needle. The pain wasn't that bad around the bikini line, but it was really painful at the center. But the pain was less than waxing and a little less than my tattoos.
|obviously this isn't me, but the laser looked just like this|
Afterwards I covered my skin in hydro-cortisone cream so that I wouldn't itch. So far I don't have any pain or burning sensation on my skin. I also haven't noticed any peeling or crusting.
In all I would have to say the experience wasn't that bad, it just was a little awkward when the nurse had me spread my legs to do the bikini area. Also, the clinic also has numbing cream for purchase which can eliminate the pain, I did it with no numbing cream and it wasn't too bad. The whole process took less than an hour. The bikini part was only like 5 min
Have you had laser hair removal or considered getting it?
